The 2025 World Sailing Inclusion Championships: A Defining Moment for Our Sport

I’m incredibly proud – and honestly, a little emotional – to share that registration is now open for the 2025 World Sailing Inclusion Championships, taking place in Oman from 3–8 December 2025.

This isn’t just another regatta. It’s not business as usual.
This is a landmark moment for our sport. And for me personally, it’s the result of years of hard work, hard conversations, and sheer determination to get the job done.

The World Sailing Inclusion Championships were born out of a deep need in our sport – a need for visibility, for opportunity, for equity. For too long, Para Inclusive sailors have trained, competed, and pushed boundaries without the spotlight they deserve. This event is about changing that.

Seeing classes like the RS Venture Connect bring the work to life and support the vision to see sailing return to the Games.

It’s about saying: you belong here. You are part of sailing. And we see you.

This event is a cornerstone of our campaign to reinstate sailing into the Paralympic Games for Brisbane 2032. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has set clear criteria for reinstatement: we must show true global participation, structured pathways, classification alignment, and anti-doping compliance. But more than ticking boxes, we have to prove that sailing is a sport for all – and that we’re serious about making it so.

That’s where this event comes in. It’s our chance to show the world what Para Inclusive Sailing looks like – diverse, competitive, growing, and united. And it’s our chance to gather sailors from our disability community from every corner of the world in one place, under one flag: the flag of inclusion.

Reminding myself of why every step of the way.

This event isn’t just my job – it’s my passion. I’ve spent years supporting sailors through the Inclusive Development Programme (IDP) – from training camps in Southeast Asia, to first-time events in Africa, to classification reform calls and governance reviews. I’ve helped build this from the ground up, with one goal: that no sailor is left behind because of who they are, where they live, or what barriers they face because of disability.

What’s Next — and What You Can Do

Registration is now OPEN – and importantly, you can register without payment upfront. We understand the realities and challenges that many teams face in confirming travel and funding. But early registration is vital – for planning, for logistics, and for demonstrating international commitment.

World Sailing will also support as many emerging nations as possible through grants and coaching support via the IDP. We are committed to breaking down barriers and making this event as accessible as possible.

We need MNAs and Classes to back their sailors. Not just with words, but with funding, support, and action. Getting to Oman will take coordination – and it won’t happen without your help.

This is a sport-wide effort. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I cannot do this alone. We will not reach Paralympic reinstatement unless sailing shows up as one united sport. That means MNAs, classes, sailors, coaches, officials — all of us working together, as One Sport.

So if you’ve ever asked “how can I help?” — this is the answer. Help your sailors register. Help them get to Oman. Help us send a message to the IPC and to the wider world that sailing is a sport where everyone belongs.

Having the privilege to design, run and coach the Inclusive Development programme and backing myself and the difference it could make to so many – 36 countries and over 186 sailors and coaches have benefited so far, and it’s only the beginning.

IDP registration will open shortly – stay tuned for details on coaching and travel support for emerging nations.

I’m tired. I won’t lie about that. I’ve poured everything I have into this vision, into this event, into these sailors, into this strategy. And I’m still standing – but I need you to stand with me.

This isn’t just a moment in time – this is a turning point.
Let’s make sure we’re on the right side of it.

See you in Oman.
